API Reference

Authentication and limits

The Fundz API puts the moments Fundz watches (a company raised money, hired a new leader, got acquired, won a contract) into your own tools: a CRM, a spreadsheet, an internal dashboard or an AI agent. That is how your team hears about a change first and acts on it before anyone else does.

This page covers what every endpoint shares: getting a key, sending it, the response shape, pagination, the daily call allowance and errors.

Quick start

Create a key, then pass it in the Authorization header. This returns the newest seed rounds Fundz has added since the date you give:

curl -H "Authorization: YOUR_API_KEY" \
  "https://api.fundz.net/fundings?series=seed&created_from=2026-09-01"

Base URL

Every endpoint in this reference sits directly under the base URL, with no version prefix. For example: https://api.fundz.net/fundings and https://api.fundz.net/companies/{id}.

https://api.fundz.net

Get an API key

API access is included in the Pro and Strategic plans. There is no free API tier. See pricing.

  1. Sign in to the Fundz app and open Account.
  2. Click the API Keys card. (Open API Keys)
  3. Click Create API Key (or New Key if you already have one).
  4. Optionally give the key a name, such as "CRM sync", then click Create Key.
  5. Copy the key and store it like a password. Anyone holding it can spend your daily allowance.

On a plan without API access the page reads "API key management requires a Pro or Strategic subscription" and links to plans.

Send the key

Put the key, on its own, in the Authorization header of every request:

Authorization: YOUR_API_KEY
A full request
curl -H "Authorization: YOUR_API_KEY" \
  "https://api.fundz.net/companies/northwind-robotics"
No "Bearer" in front of an API key
The Bearer scheme is reserved for sign-in tokens issued to connectors such as Fundz in Claude and ChatGPT. An API key sent as Bearer YOUR_API_KEY is rejected as an invalid token.

Daily call allowance

Each plan comes with a daily number of calls, per account:

PlanCalls per day
Pro50
Strategic500

These endpoints draw from that one daily count: the six feeds (fundings, acquisitions, crowdfundings, executives, agreements, products) and the three company endpoints (profile, contacts, market gift). A call counts when it is made, including calls that return no records. The count starts again each day.

Every feed response reports meta.tier (your plan) and meta.remaining_searches (calls left today). Read remaining_searches rather than hardcoding the numbers above. When you run out, the API answers 429:

{
  "error": "rate_limit_exceeded",
  "message": "You've reached your Pro API limit for today (50/day).",
  "current_tier": "Pro",
  "queries_used": 50,
  "queries_limit": 50,
  "upgrade_url": "https://www.fundz.net/pricing"
}

Need more volume, or the right to show Fundz data inside your own product? That is data licensing or the metered Agent API, both described on the pricing page.

Response envelope

All responses are JSON. The feeds share one envelope: a data array of records, a meta object with pagination and plan details, and an upgrade_url.

{
  "_attribution": "Data provided by Fundz ...",
  "_licensing": "Commercial use, redistribution or embedding requires a licence ...",
  "data": [ /* records, described on each endpoint's page */ ],
  "meta": {
    "current_page": 1,
    "next_page": 2,
    "total_count": 1234,
    "total_pages": 50,
    "tier": "Pro",
    "remaining_searches": 41
  },
  "upgrade_url": "https://www.fundz.net/pricing"
}
  • _attribution and _licensing say whose data it is and how to license it. They are added to feed, company and fund-formation responses and never replace other keys, so parsers that ignore unknown keys are unaffected.
  • When a query matches nothing, the response also includes a guidance object with suggestions for widening the search.
  • Daily leads, unified alerts and SEC filings use their own shapes, shown on their pages.

Pagination

Feeds return 25 records per page, newest first. Add ?page=N to move through results. meta.next_page is null on the last page, and a page past the end returns an empty data array rather than an error.

curl -H "Authorization: YOUR_API_KEY" \
  "https://api.fundz.net/fundings?created_from=2026-09-01&page=2"

Two endpoints page differently: fund formations accept per_page (up to 100) and SEC filings return up to 20 per page.

Dates

Every feed record has a created_at timestamp: the moment Fundz added it. created_from and created_to filter on that date, not on the date printed in the underlying announcement or filing. To pick up everything new since your last sync, pass the date of that sync as created_from.

Errors

Errors come back as JSON with a type and a message, or, for plan and allowance problems, an error code with a message and an upgrade_url. A missing or unknown key returns 403, not 401.

{
  "type": "Unauthorized",
  "message": "Authentication required"
}
StatusWhenBody
400A parameter is missing or malformed, such as a bad date on fund formations.{ "type": "BadRequest", "message": ... }
403No key was sent (Authentication required), the key is unknown (Invalid authentication token) or the account has no API access.{ "type": "Unauthorized", "message": ... }
403The account is not on an active Pro or Strategic plan.{ "error": "subscription_required", "message": ..., "upgrade_url": ... }
404The company or lead you asked for does not exist.{ "type": "NotFound", "message": ... }
422A value failed validation.{ "type": "ValidationError", ... }
429Today's call allowance is used up.{ "error": "rate_limit_exceeded", ... }

Other ways to get Fundz data

  • In Claude. Fundz in Claude lets you ask for your leads and signals in plain language. You sign in once; there is no key to paste.
  • Agent API. For software doing the calling, with metered pricing and the source filing on every answer. See the Agent API quickstart.
  • Zapier, HubSpot, Salesforce and Slack. No code needed. See Integrations.
